HISTORY
The Township of Cumru Fire Department (TCFD) is created by ordinance, approved by the Cumru Township Board of Commissioners. The recognized component members of the TCFD are the Gouglersville Fire Company, No. 1, Cedar Top Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, and the Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 of Grill, PA. The Township of Cumru Fire Department is divided into three fire districts. Incorporation of the existing first-due area of each member Fire Company creates a district. The existing first-due area of the Gouglersville Fire Company No. 1 shall be called District 1. The existing first-due area of the Cedar Top Volunteer Fire Company No.1 shall be called District 2. And the existing first-due area of the Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 of Grill, PA shall be called District 3. The elected Fire Chief of a component member fire company shall serve as the District Fire Chief in that district.
MISSION STATEMENT
The protection of life and property, and providing public service thereby improving the quality of life in Cumru Township are the guiding principles for the creation and continued existence of the Gouglersville Fire Company, Cedar Top Fire Company, and the Volunteer Fire Company of Grill. Changing economies and environments make it necessary to continually evaluate the way we deliver service to our community. The Board of Commissioners and the Fire Companies of Cumru Township are committed to:
Providing dependable, efficient fire and rescue services to the public. Continuing public service beyond fire and rescue services. Development and implementation of common Standard Operating Guidelines. Reducing costs when possible thereby increasing our net worth to the community. Development of a central administrative and command structure. Shared common training programs. Reducing duplication of equipment and services. Developing a program for public fire education. Preservation and enhancement of the volunteer fire service.
